The best of Google AI is now included in Workspace plans.
Google claims, "Workspace enables the future of AI-powered work for every business". A big claim so let's expand on it.
AI will be foundational for future work, and its transformative power will be accessible to every business. The race is on to make it easily available, safe, and affordable. So Google decided to integrate the best of Gemini into its Workspace Business plans, bringing the latest generative AI capabilities to their business customers without the need to purchase additional add-ons.

Boosting work potential with AI at work
For over twenty years, Google Workspace has provided a cloud-native suite of business tools; it's been a place where people create, build, and collaborate together. Google has helped millions of businesses of all sizes—from innovative startups to global enterprises—to transform how they work. Now, as we race to an era of work assisted by AI, the opportunities emerging for Google customers have accelerated with the marketplace's inordinate exponential development in this space.
Empowering every business with the Google AI
To address this need, Google announced on 15 January 2025 that much of their Gemini generative AI would be included in Workspace Business plans, giving every business the tools they need to innovate for tomorrow.
You may be resistant, but AI is here, and its not a flash in the pan; it's a foundational shift in how work gets done. Over the past year, many customers have embraced generative AI to unlock productivity, creativity, and innovation. It's helped businesses reduce the burden of mundane tasks — from taking meeting notes to synthesising long documents and videos — and acted as a strategic thought partner to bring their best ideas to life. Businesses that embrace AI are gaining a significant competitive edge, but many are unsure how to start, or struggle with the cost of adopting new technologies. AI Help is here for businesses to navigate this journey, and you can start now by booking a seesion with an AI expert here.
So to expand out further, and as Google describes, it will start rolling out the AI capabilities below to all Workspace Business customers over the coming months.
Get AI assistance in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, Chat, Vids, and more: Do work faster with AI embedded in the tools you use every day. Gemini streamlines your communications by helping you summarize, draft, and find information in your emails, chats, and files. It can be a thought partner and source of inspiration, helping you create professional documents, slides, spreadsheets, and videos from scratch. Gemini can improve your meetings by taking notes, enhancing your audio and video, and catching up on the conversation if you join late.
Chat with Gemini Advanced, Google's next-gen AI: Kickstart learning, brainstorming, and planning with the Gemini app on your laptop or mobile device. Gemini Advanced can help you tackle complex projects, including coding, research, and data analysis and lets you build Gems, your team of AI experts, to help with repeatable or specialised tasks.
Unlock the power of NotebookLM: A revolutionary AI research assistant that helps make sense of complex topics. Upload sources to get instant insights and Audio Overviews, then share customised notebooks with the team to accelerate their learning and onboarding.
Simplified Google pricing with AI included
By removing the need to pay for an add-on to access the latest generative AI capabilities, Google simplified the process and pricing to bring the added value of Google AI to all Workspace customers. The catch is that all Workspace customers will pay a few US$ more monthly for each seat. For example, a customer using the Workspace Business Standard plan with a Gemini Business add-on previously paid $32 per monthly user. That same customer will pay just $14 per user per month — only $2 more than they were paying for Workspace without Gemini of $12.
Now a word of caution, the greatest threat for businesses with generative AI, is its business data from being ingested by public AI Large Learning Machines(LLMs). Said another way, your sensitive business data is available to all and sundry. Google, a world leader in information, communications, and technology(ICT) security, knows that data security, confidentiality, and compliance are key priorities for business leaders when adopting AI, and is committed to not only that but also reducing the complexity, hence costs, of managing the ring-fencing of data protect it.
Your data is your data. Google, when using within your business Workspace account, doesn't use your data, prompts, or generated responses to train its LM models outside of your domain unless you grant permission. Make sure you don't, and ensure the credentials to manage are secure with 2SV/2FA/MFA at minimum.
Google provides controls to protect sensitive data, and your existing Workspace data security and sovereignty controls will be automatically applied. Also Gemini for Workspace and the Gemini app are among the first generative AI productivity solutions to attain a comprehensive set of safety, privacy, and security certifications, including SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001/17/18, and ISO 42001.
